On Saturday, December 1 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, the Winter Farmers’ Market at Norfield Grange at 12 Good Hill Road in Weston will hold its first farmers’ market of the 2012-2013 season. The farmers’ market, nestled warmly inside the historic Grange, has become a weekly social gathering for friends and families in Weston and surrounding communities, as well as visitors from afar.
To celebrate opening day, the Winter Farmers’ Market at Norfield Grange will host Runabout Farm, offering a petting zoo and pony rides for children of all ages. Animals will be at the farmers’ market this Saturday from 10am until 2pm offering rides, snuggles, and picture pictures with their fans. Kids and adults are invited to stop by, meet the animals, and ask questions about the farm and animal rescue.
When you make a purchase from any of the vendors, you automatically receive a raffle ticket for a beautiful, fresh 6′ to 7′ balsam fir, which has been graciously donated by Weston Gardens. If you would like to purchase additional raffle tickets, they are available for $1 for 3 tickets. On December 15, they will be drawing the winner at the close of the market at 2:00pm.
At the Winter Farmers’ Market at Norfield Grange guests can purchase farm fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, jams and jellies, honey, maple syrup, goats milk cheese and yogurt, handmade soap and body products, natural beef and pork, wild-caught seafood, eggs, baked goods, prepared foods, live plants, and more. Visit the Crafters’ Corner to support local artisans with beautiful hand-knit hats, hair accessories, boxwood wreaths and trees, fresh cut flowers, artwork, pottery, jewelry, and much more! The Market is open every Saturday through May 4, from 10am to 2pm at the Norfield Grange, 12 Good Hill Road, Weston, CT 06883.

About Runabout Farm:
Runabout Farm has been rescuing horses, ponies and other animals from slaughterhouses and abusive homes for years. “We buy the animals, vet them, medicate if necessary, and when their physical and mental health has been restored, it is only then that they are accepted into our pony ride program” states Lori Russo, owner and director of Runabout Farm. “Those horses and ponies that don’t meet our program standards spend the rest of their lives happily living out in a pasture.” Runabout Farm is currently home to a menagerie of animals, including many horses and ponies, several goats, ferrets, chickens, ducks, and numerous Guinea pigs and rabbits.
Ms. Russo has been involved with animals since she was a little girl and has been doing pony parties professionally since 1989. Ms. Russo and her team of dedicated helpers bring joy to children of all ages in Fairfield and Westchester counties, providing pony rides and petting zoo parties for birthdays and special occasions. Please call 203-223-1212 for more information.
