Honey Harvest Celebration is the Bee’s Knees

A Honey Harvest Celebration

with Red Bee Honey and Saugatuck Grain & Grape

Late summer is the time of year when beekeepers around the world are celebrating the honey harvest. It’s a time of rewards for a prosperous beekeeping season and traditionally celebrated with seasonal festivities including a harvest party and tasting of the region’s honey.

Red Bee Apiary will be toasting to this year’s honey harvest with their final Talk, Tour and Tasting of the beekeeping season. Jeff Marron, co-owner of Saugatuck Grain & Grape, joins the festivities this year and will be creating special honey-inspired cocktails and liqueurs for the tasting menu. Marina Marchese will lead a private tour of her Red Bee apiary and gardens and demonstrate the honey harvest process. Guests will then be seated at farmhouse tables in the apiary for a tasting flight of seven single-origin honeys and perfect pairings using locally-sourced cheeses and breads and fresh herbs from Red Bee’s garden. Jeff Marron will teach guests how he blends tasting notes to create the perfect honey-inspired cocktails. After the formal tasting, guests are invited to stay and gather around the bonfire to indulge in a chocolate honeycomb fondue!

A formal honey tasting at Red Bee Apiary is a wonderful and relaxing way to spend an afternoon.

About Saugatuck Grain & Grape:

Centered on a well-edited collection of artisan wines and spirits, Saugatuck Grain & Grape draws both serious oenophiles as well as fans of cocktail culture. The shop takes a boutique approach to its offerings, presenting its wine as tasteful collections organized by region, stacked within open dark steel shelving. The other half of the shop, a mirror image, treats its spirits, beer and cordials in much the same carefully curated way. Collections of small batch bourbons, tequilas, single malt scotches, craft rums, artisanal gins and liqueurs are arranged in engaging vignettes drawing attention to the depth of the shop’s offerings.

The couple behind Saugatuck Grain & Grape are partners Mimi McLaughlin and Jeff Marron. Mimi minds the grapes while Jeff looks after the spirits, each engaging in constant research and development in wines and cocktail culture.
