The Hickories Welcomes the Public to Farm and Animal Tours

The Hickories, a certified organic farm in Ridgefield, has Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Shares to offer to the public.  Spring shares have sold out, but Summer and Fall shares are still on sale in the farm’s website farm store (www.thehickories.org.)

In early August, The Hickories' Farm Stand yielded beets, carrots, lettuces, garlic, broccoli, potatoes, and tomatoes. The peaches were for CSA shareholders only, but there were frozen chickens available for anyone to purchase.

The Hickories has broadened its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and Farm Store offerings from certified organic fruit, vegetables and flowers to include livestock production as well.  Sheep, goats, pigs, and layer hens now are a vibrant part of our farm’s ecology, and the farmers are inviting the community to visit during scheduled farm tours to learn about sustainable agriculture and organic food production.

The Hickories’ farmers will host Farm and Animal Tours on April 26th, May 17th, and May 31st featuring lambs, goat kids, and piglets, to share the joys of spring on the farm.  Sign up on the website (www.thehickories.org) for a guided tour and for more information about the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program.  Space is limited.  Farm and Animal Tours are free to CSA members, but general admission is $10 per person.

The Farm Store is open for low-season hours (Friday-Sunday 10am-5pm) and will expand to high-season hours (7 days a week, 11am-6pm) in June.
