Chocolate Tasting Workshop featuring the fine chocolates of Amedei

Amedei is a Tuscany-based bean-to-bar chocolate maker considered to be one of the finest in the world. Please join us for a special tasting workshop featuring 5 chocolate bars – including rare and award-winning Chuao and Porcelana – made from cacao sourced directly from top quality growers the world over.

This unique educational and tasting experience begins with the history of chocolate, challenges cacao farmers face when growing rare “flavor” beans, and work of companies like Amedei to preserve heirloom plantations. Explore the science of taste with fun exercises, and savor each chocolate during a guided tasting using an aroma wheel and aroma bar. Guests are taught to taste chocolate like the pros do, including specialized vocabulary for recording their sensory analysis on a tasting worksheet.

Venue: Olivette, 1084 Post Road, Darien. $20 per person. RSVP by calling 203-621-0643 or register online.

Tasting Menu:

  • Chuao – 70%  cacao (London Academy of Chocolate Golden Award 2006, 2007, 2008)
  • Porcelana – 70% cacao (London Academy of Chocolate Golden Award 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009)

Our Mission: To educate consumers through chocolate tasting workshops and help them gain an appreciation of and derive maximum enjoyment from fine chocolate made from rare “flavor” beans grown all over the world. We support the work of the fine chocolate industry which sources the rarest, most coveted and difficult to grow heirloom cacao from small family farms, both of which are in danger of disappearing. We also support the work of Slow Food, and believe everyone should slow down, consciously taste and talk about our food, and savor its unique and complex flavors.
