It’s cool enough to head to the fields at Jones Family Farm in Shelton to do some strawberry picking today and enjoy the farmers’ market, which has been moved indoors to the Winery Tasting Room in response to the weather forecast. If you’re not in the mood for picking, or playing chase with the rain, head straight to the winery where quarts of strawberries and strawberry shortcake, made in the farm kitchen, are available for sale.
The farmers’ market kicks off the summer season this Friday, July 4, from 11:00-2:00 inside the winery. Enjoy CT Grown fresh produce from Jones Family Farm and Stone Gardens Farm plus honey, cheese and bread from other vendors.
Open Fridays during July and August from 3:30 – 6:30 pm (except today when it’s held from 11-2), the farmers’ market is held at the Jones Family Farm Harvest Kitchen Courtyard next to Jones Winery at 606 Walnut Tree Road (the winery will be open late, except today, for tastings and sales).
Looking for blueberries? Jones Family Farm announced that the first blueberries will be ready for harvesting this weekend. Always call the Crop Report at 203-929-8425 for complete information about field openings, locations, and hours before heading out.
