It’s been years since the winter farmers market at the FTC (Fairfield Theater Company) closed, and since then Fairfield has gone without a downtown winter market. That’s about to change.
Starting next month, a new Winter Farmers’ Market of Southport will be held in the upper hall of the Ukrainian-American Club located at 279 Kings Drive each Saturday between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. Diane Lytwyn of Silver Pond Farm will be the anchor organic produce and egg farmer and assist her husband Paul in his role as Market Master. You may recognize her beautiful eggs from French Marans, Barred Rocks, Easter Egg hens, Tetratints, and Rhode Island Reds from your purchases at the Greenfield Hill Farmer’s Market where Silver Pond Farm is a vendor.
Lytwyn said “The location is ideal because the building can be seen directly from I-95 and is adjacent to Route 1. The hall is well lit, heated with restrooms on the same level, and the parking lot is very large, with plenty of space for our vendors and the public.”

This market is still adding vendors since there is ample space both inside and outdoors for parking. If you are interested in participating as a vendor, please contact Diane Lytwyn at email@example.com . Tables will be provided and the space cost is $20.00 per market. Farmers with produce will operate under their license from the Town of Fairfield. All vendors with prepared foods MUST obtain a food license from the Fairfield Dept. of Health unless the business is already located in Fairfield. Crafts vendors do not require licensing.
