Fleisher’s Craft Butchery (formerly Saugatuck Craft Butchery) has opened their second retail location in Fairfield County at 160 E. Putnam Avenue in Cos Cob, filling the space vacated by Radio Shack. With Greenwich Cheese Company and Fjord Fisheries as neighbors, the three make a tidy trio of food mongers in what they’re calling The Hub.
Fleisher’s is a full-service butcher shop specializing in pastured, whole animal butchery and only works with animals raised according to their standards on local farms. Shoppers will appreciate their customer service, which includes advice on how to cook lesser known cuts that cost up to fifty percent less than premium cuts like filet mignon, ribeye and strip steaks, but taste just as good.
The Hub is holding an open house event for the community to get to know Fleisher’s, Greenwich Cheese Co., and Fjord Fishers and have a taste of the meat, cheese and fish they specialize in sourcing, respectively, for consumers who demand the highest quality food. The Monger Mingle will be held on November 12 from 7-9 pm and is a fun way to check out their selection of meat and poultry. Consider placing your special order for a local-organic or Heritage breed Thanksgiving turkey while you’re there. Consult our guide to local and Heritage turkeys to learn more.
