The Black Rock Farmers Market (BRFM) invites you to opening day on Saturday, June 18 starting at 9 am. BRFM is a producer-only market featuring locally farmed vegetables, fruit, cheese, eggs, bread, meats, jams, pickles, syrup, honey, coffee, tea, prepared foods, beauty care products, pet supplies, flowers, local artisans, vintage finds, weekly musicians, yoga classes, and the cutest vintage doughnut trailer in town, plus a real life rooster! SNAP/EBT, WIC, Farmers Market Checks, checks, cash, credit/debit are accepted. When you spend your SNAP/EBT $1= $2 at the Market.

Featuring an ever-changing array of local vendors with everything from handmade soaps to doughnuts, from locally grown vegetables to freshly baked pies, from artisanal cheese to homemade ice cream, BRFM is the hottest part of the melting pot that is Black Rock. Once you step onto the field that serves as the market’s backdrop, you find that you’ve stepped away from the bustle of the avenue to a serene place, almost back in time. The community comes together as friends reconnect, families take time to picnic under a tree, perfect strangers play chess or children can create a craft with their parents. It harkens back to a time when folks knew the people who grew their food, when babies were pulled in little red wagons and when people slowed down to carefully think about their food shopping.

Seasonal food, artisans and music together in one marketplace provide customers and neighbors with several reasons to gather on the field and enjoy a Saturday morning together. BRFM proudly welcomes back Sport Hill Farm, Aradia Farm and Creative Shepherd Farm and is proud to introduce Maitri Farm, Sweet Acre Farm, and Whisk + Brush’s Dixie the doughnut trailer. Many new artisans will be featured throughout the season including veteran vendor Hartford Prints with their letterpress stationery, urban streetwear, and locally-sourced goods.

The Market will be held every Saturday from 9am to 1pm at 481 Brewster Street in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport  starting June 18 and ending on October 15, 2016.  The annual year-end Harvest Hootenanny will be held on October 29 from 1-5 pm. (Sadly, no pets allowed are allowed on the field.)
