Have you ever tasted a dog cookie? Until recently, I could honestly say no. That is no longer the case.

I had the privilege of meeting Paul and Lynn Gallant, owners of Paul’s Custom Pet Food in New Milford. As a parting gift, I received a package of pumpkin dog cookies. With an ingredient list of organic brown rice flour, organic pumpkin, organic eggs, dried goat’s milk, organic parsley, and sea salt, I gave one a try.

The Stand Reopens in SoNo

The Stand, an organic, vegan enclave started eight years ago on Wall Street in Norwalk by Carissa and Mike Hvizdo, has moved to SoNo in the new Ironworks complex adjacent to the Maritime Aquarium.

Drive too quickly down Danbury Road and you’ll miss Bistro 7, a casual and unassuming eatery serving seasonal fare and craft cocktails. Local, organic sourcing is a priority for owner Breno Donatti, so much so that the staff uniform is a black t-shirt emblazoned with “Your Local Farmers Present: Locally Sourced Comfort Food”.

Farm-to-Chef Week, The CT Dept. of Agriculture’s annual celebration of CT Grown, is scheduled for September 14-20, 2014. Restaurants, cafes, caterers, cafeterias, food trucks, bakeries, and other dining establishments are invited to register for this event and partner with Connecticut farms to showcase their Connecticut Grown foods on their menus.
