Winter farmers markets are growing in popularity as consumers embrace local-in-season eating more than ever. The opening of the year-round Farmer Market Co-Op in Ridgefield marks a high point in local food availability at retail.
Farmers Market Co-Op is now up and running on Catoonah Street just off the main drag between the fire station and the post office. Open every day from 10-6, except Sunday, the market features local-organic food and fine crafts from local artisans.
The Winter Westport Farmers Market will return for a sixth season in the greenhouse at Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens at 7 Sylvan Lane in Westport. The market will run each Saturday from 10 am until 2 pm, from November 12 through March 11.
The Fairfield Downtown Farmers Market is now open for the season and runs each Sunday from 10-2 at the Sherman Green.
The Black Rock Farmers Market (BRFM) invites you to opening day on Saturday, June 18 starting at 9 am.
The Westport Farmers’ Market (WFM), a thriving local hub for seasonal food, wants you to fall in love with your kitchen again. Twenty top area chefs and restaurants have signed up to provide free culinary instruction each week from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m. so you can learn to create delicious meals and snacks at home using fresh ingredients from the market.

The Winter Westport Farmers Market opens for the season on Saturday, November 14 at 10:00am. The market returns for a fifth season at Gilbertie’s Herb Garden on Sylvan Lane in Westport, running each Saturday through March 12.
Join the Black Rock Farmers Market for an afternoon of corn hole, square dancing, beer tasting and more at their Halloween Hootenanny featuring local food, local artisans, local breweries, and live music, from 1-5 pm. Proceeds will directly benefit the 2016 season.
As of October 1, all products sold at farmers’ markets as Connecticut Grown must be accompanied by a sign that identifies the name and address of the farm or business where the product was grown or made.
